In the centre, the most-booked day: a reindeer sleigh, a husky ride and free time in the village. On
the left, a day in Snowman World; on the right, a husky ride at the village itself. Every card opens a full tour page.
A day in the snow park inside the village, 6 December to 17 March: ice slides, snow tubes, a skating rink, the snow labyrinth and the ice bar. Skates and tubes included.
Drive your own reindeer sleigh and ride behind a husky team, 500 m each, eat salmon soup at the farm, then spend the end of the day in Santa Claus Village.
A 2.5 km husky sled ride through the forest at the edge of the village, with a musher at the back, from 30 November. Hot juice and cookies by the fire after.
Two questions sort most of it: do you want a ride with animals or a day in the village itself, and do
you need a pickup from your hotel? After that it is the children's ages, the date and how long a day you want.
Every booking here cancels free up to 24 hours before. Entering the village and the normal
meeting with Santa are free; official photos with Santa start at EUR 57 at Santa Claus Office (2026).

Incredible! I think about this experience often even two years later. This day wrapped up all the magic of what I expected in Finland and everyone was so kind. I loved that they provided big winter suits to wear in the cold too!
★★★★★
An incredible ride, the guide accompanies you while steering the sled. The dogs are docile and the local landscape is very beautiful; I felt like I was in a film. At the end, they serve a wonderful hot juice and biscuit.
★★★★★
My 8 year old daughter loved this place, was perfect for her as in a smaller area and she could move back and forth between the fun activities for hours easily, she really loved the snowmen interacting with her too, great fun thank you

★★★★★
It was really nice and even a little magical. There are lots of elves around and you can take pictures with them. The elf show is super cute and a blast to watch. Santa is very sweet and open-minded, he asked the child a lot of questions and was very friendly and kind.
★★★★★
It was such an incredible experience, riding a horse through the snowy forest. As a first-time rider, I felt completely safe and well taken care of. The horse was amazing and the staff member was very kind. I would definitely do it again!
★★★★★
Our tour guide Ifu was punctual, friendly and knowledgeable. We had a magical day from start to finish. We loved meeting and feeding the huskies, but the highlight had to be the husky ride! Santa was adorable, very authentic and generally very loveable
★★★★★
A truly perfect tour for combining lots of activities in one day. The travel times to the locations were short. Our guide was super nice and answered all our questions, took photos of us, and organized everything really well!!

Juha was an excellent guide. He arrived on time, taking us not only to the places of interest but also to our own. He took the time to accompany us without pressure or time limits.
After dark
Go looking for the Northern Lights
The village is too bright for a good show. An evening chase takes you to dark skies, late August to early April.
An evening minivan chase for the aurora, away from the city lights and sometimes as far as Sweden, with a campfire, hot berry juice and photos. 80% back if no aurora shows, by eye or camera.
A free village, a lot of paid extras and a queue that grows every December. Here is how to read the tickets.
A village that grew around a cabin
Rovaniemi was burned almost to the ground in 1944. When Eleanor Roosevelt came to see the rebuilding in June 1950,
she wanted to cross the Arctic Circle, and a log cabin was put up for her in under two weeks, just south of the line.
That cabin is still the oldest building in the village. Everything else grew around it: Santa Claus Office opened in
1992, and today more than 50 companies work here together as a cooperative.
The line itself is marked across the central square. It is symbolic: the real Arctic Circle shifts slowly over time.
Nobody minds. Stepping over it is free, and a certificate to prove it costs from about EUR 5.
No gate and no ticket: the village is open to all.
Where the money goes
The meeting with Santa is free. The photos are not: own cameras are not allowed in his room, and the elves' pictures
and video start at EUR 57 for up to five people, with no obligation to buy. Snowman World costs EUR 35 a day for every
age over two. A 400 m reindeer sleigh ride at Santa Claus Reindeer starts at EUR 30, paid on the spot.
The tours on this site sell something else: the ride out, a guide, the animals. The visit with lunch
collects you at your hotel; the most-booked day adds a
reindeer sleigh, a husky ride and salmon soup before the village.
For December: on the busiest days an elf at the small red cabin by the entrance hands out free
entry times for Santa, and they can run out after midday. Arrive in the morning, collect yours, then go and play.
The village or SantaPark?
Two different places. The village is outdoors, free and open all year. SantaPark is a paid Christmas theme park inside
a cavern near the airport, open from 31 October 2026 to 23 January 2027, with an elf school, a show and its own Santa.
Tickets start at EUR 42 for adults and EUR 37 for children on SantaPark's own site, and prices vary by date.
The line for Santa is longest from mid-November to early January.
Timing it
For snow and Christmas lights, come between late November and early January, and expect queues. Santa Claus Office
names April to September as its quietest months. Snow usually lies from November to April, but the first lasting snow
can come as late as early December. Around the winter solstice there are only two to three hours of daylight, so plan
the outdoor rides for the middle of the day.
Straight answers to what people ask most about tickets, Santa and getting to the village.
How much does it cost to get into Santa Claus Village?
Nothing. Santa Claus Village has no gate and no entrance ticket, and meeting Santa at Santa Claus Office is free. You pay for extras: official photos with Santa from EUR 57, Snowman World at EUR 35 a day (2026-27), reindeer and husky rides, the Arctic Circle certificate from about EUR 5. See what is free and what costs.
Do I need to book Santa Claus Village?
No. You walk in, and the normal meeting with Santa needs no booking either. Book ahead for the things that sell out in December: Snowman World meals, the private Christmas Express Pass at Santa Claus Office, longer reindeer and husky safaris, and any tour with hotel pickup.
How to see Santa at Santa Claus Village?
Go to Santa Claus Office on the main square, by the Arctic Circle line, and join the queue; each family meets him on its own. On the busiest December days an elf hands out free entry times by the entrance, and they can run out after midday. Christmas House is a second free place to meet him. More in meeting Santa Claus.
How many hours do I need in Santa Claus Village?
Our suggestion: two to three hours for Santa, the post office and the Arctic Circle line outside December. Add Snowman World or a ride and plan half a day. In December Santa Claus Office itself says to allow about an hour for the queue inside.
Is Santa Claus Village worth it?
For families with children who believe, yes: Santa is there every day of the year, entry is free and the post office stamps your cards with the Arctic Circle postmark. Adults without children often pair it with a reindeer and husky day or the Northern Lights.
What is the best time to visit Santa Claus Village?
For snow and Christmas lights, late November to early January, which is also the busiest time. April to September is the quietest for meeting Santa. In winter, later in the day near closing is often calmer than the morning rush.
What is the difference between Santa Claus Village and SantaPark?
The village is free, outdoors, open every day of the year and sits on the Arctic Circle 8 km north of Rovaniemi. SantaPark is a paid Christmas theme park inside a cavern near the airport, open 31 October 2026 to 23 January 2027, with tickets from EUR 42. Compare them in the village vs SantaPark.
Is there a reindeer ride in Santa Claus Village?
Yes, in winter. Santa Claus Reindeer in the village sells a 400 m sleigh ride from EUR 30 and an 800 m ride from EUR 50, on site only. Longer rides and farm visits leave from Rovaniemi, often with huskies; see reindeer and husky rides.
How do I get to Santa Claus Village from Rovaniemi?
City bus 8 runs all year from the centre, about half an hour, EUR 3.60 one way paid to the driver (EUR 3.30 in the app). It is 8 km by taxi, and parking at the village is free. Details in getting to Santa Claus Village.
What to wear in Santa Claus Village?
Layers: thermal underwear and wool socks, a fleece or wool middle layer, a wind and waterproof coat and trousers, boots over the ankle, a hat and mittens. Average December highs are about minus 5 °C, and colder snaps of minus 25 °C and below happen.
Is there snow in Santa Claus Village?
Usually from November to April. The village says the first lasting snow can come at the end of October or only in early December, and nobody can guarantee it; early in the season some rides run shorter or on wheeled carts.
Can you see the Northern Lights from Santa Claus Village?
Rarely from the lit centre. The season runs from late August to early April, and the glass igloos at the edges of the village or an evening chase to darker places give you a far better chance. Nobody can promise a show.
